Our Story

It was the loving care for our homeland and the desire to honor our parents' lives of service to their fellow Amazonians that propelled us to embark on a long awaited journey back home to the Brazilian Amazon.

Our story began decades ago when our parents embarked on their journey of a lifetime. Along with a small group of other missionary families, they lived aboard a modest house boat with minimal comforts for themselves and their young family. The group endured numerous challenges as they navigated the river waters that crisscross the Amazon Rainforest, locating and responding to the needs of remote communities along the river’s edge to bring them humanitarian aid and share with them the faith that brought them there.

Following our family's many years of service in Amazonia and Northeast Brazil, our parents sought an opportunity to travel to the United States in the early 1980's. Even though our family has now embraced this land of opportunities as our own, the memories of our childhood never left us. The rivers, the forest, the food, the people - all hold a special place in our hearts for as long as we live.

The once children-of-the-Amazon have grown to become skilled professionals as an engineer, a designer and a contractor. In more recent years, we’ve had the opportunity to serve in short-term missions to central America, bringing desperately needed humanitarian aid and hope to impoverished and forgotten people - widows, orphans and the homeless, and connecting in a very personal way with these less fortunate neighbors. Though they possessed nothing of value and lived in the simplest of ways, these people were often the most generous and kind and welcomed us with open arms into their dwellings.

These life-changing experiences helped us to better understand our parents’ hearts and the driving force behind their sacrifices and reminded us once again of the incredible need that still exists back in our own homeland.
